INCAMICIATO (OVERLAY GLASS)
The technique of overlay glass involves the superimposition of one or more layers of coloured glass over an initial blown glass ball, in the first stage of work. Overlay glass is often extremely thin, and is characterised by its two layers of glass. It is an ancient technique, still in frequent use today, in which a piece of blown glass is immersed in a crucible filled with molten glass of a different colour. The finished product is thin blown glass with two or more layers of different colours.
