FILIGRANA (FILIGREE GLASS)

This technique uses canes of glass which have threads of opaque (lattimo) or coloured glass running through them, arranged in symmetrical lines or in a series of spiralling curves. The initial phase of production for this kind of glass is the creation of these glass canes, made of an external sheath of transparent or lightly coloured glass, with a centre of opal, white or coloured glass.
